XIMB Annual Student Conclave Hosts Industry Experts

The various student associations of XIMB organised events as part of the annual conclave that happens every year in November. The conclave was conducted between November 7 and 8 through online platforms where industry leaders talked on various wide ranging topics.

MAXIM: The marketing association of XIMB hosted its flagship event Mercatiqué on November 7. This year the theme was “ESSENCE OF MARKETING INNOVATION IN THE NEW DECADE.” Professor Sandip Anand, the moderator for the conclave, shared his insights about the committee, innovation and marketing history and evolution. He laid a foundation for the discussions that followed, revolving around the essence of marketing innovations.

While Amit Sethiya, CMO, Syska Group threw some light on the various technological immersions at play in the market today and the importance of marketing basics, Mohan Menon, VP and Head of Marketing, Max Healthcare, spoke about the behavioral changes in consumers’ shopping and spending and how the love for local has been significantly magnified. He also talked about how the culture, dynamics, and logistics of how we live our lives has been altered considerably.

Gauruv Phull, Head of Marketing, CEAT Specialty, talked about leveraging existing technologies to reach out to the target audience and meet their demands, among other things. Sai Narayan, CMO, Paisabazaar.com focused on the topic of the need for innovation to resolve consumer pain points and build a seamlessly integrated marketing strategy involving different channels. He also highlighted the importance of measuring consumer data to maximize customer insights and business performance.

The talks were followed by a Q and A session following which the MAXIM magazine- Maxedge was launched. The conclave concluded with a vote of thanks given by the student coordinator of MAXIM, Ashish Routray.

X-Fin: The  Finance Association of XIMB hosted its flagship conclave Finomics on November 8 with the theme “LIQUIDITY: THE PLASMA FOR AN AILING ECONOMY.” Professor Subha Kant Padhi, moderated the conclave and began with a talk on laying foundations about ramifications of the pandemic on the economy, government & RBI’s financial policies, sector-wise analyses, and the future of financing in the country.

Rohit Anand, Chief Business Officer and Founding Team Member, Credible.in layed focus on  the importance of working capital and how people are trying to find new ways to raise cash. He further explained that due to the market opening up and pent up demand being healthy, there have been disturbances in crores of quantity over the last six months

Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, Group Chief Economic Adviser, SBI threw light on the various areas that need to be worked on to cope with the current crisis and the fiscal measures that could revive the economy. Ajay Bhatia, VP, Head of Credit & Compliance, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited discussed the pandemic’s impact on the GDP, employment, demand, supply, liquidity, and growth and also enlightened students about the uncertainties the current pandemic has brought forward, such as sources for funding for expansion and development of businesses and industries, finally touching upon the big role technology has played in the functioning of NBFCs such as e-KYC technology. The winners for Financius 2020 were declared, followed by the launch of Finshastra, the magazine of X-Fin.

CONSTRAT: The Consulting & Strategy Consortium of XIMB hosted their flagship event Stratonomics on November 8 with the theme “REVOLUTIONARY VS EVOLUTIONARY STRATEGIES: HOW TO TACKLE BUSINESS UNCERTAINTIES.” Professor Amar KJR Nayak, moderator of the conclave, began with an introductory speech where he emphasized collaboration and coordination for personal growth and organisational growth necessary to evolve and adapt during these times.

Rohan Prasher, Group Brand Manager, Asian Paints reiterated the need to have an emotional attractiveness associated with your brand instead of keeping it all business. Mr. Akshat Mohindra, Global Account Manager, CISCO spoke about the 3 Rs – Respect, Recognition, and Responsibility and the importance of disruption in keeping yourself and your business relevant.

Devroop Dhar, Co-founder and MD, Primus Partners India emphasized that today industries are affected by other industry segments as well and to remain relevant in this rat race, it is necessary to keep moving in terms of strategies. Perry Goes, Chief Strategy Officer, United Breweries Ltd talked about the importance for a business to exist in synergy with the societal ecosystem. He also mentioned that if a business focuses more on reducing human resources to make way for technology; it might lead to the erasure of human presence altogether. The winners for Midnight Stratomania ’20 were revealed.
