Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to Launch ₹4,000 Crore Road Projects in Odisha
In a major push to Odisha’s road infrastructure, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will be visiting the state on Thursday to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for highway projects worth ₹4,000 crore.

As part of his day-long tour, Gadkari will review the progress of ongoing works and participate in the Dr Harekrushna Mahatab Memorial Lecture at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, commemorating the birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister.
At Baramunda, he will lay the foundation stone for 17 highway projects worth ₹3,200 crore and inaugurate two completed projects totaling ₹820 crore. These include the four-laning of Talcher to Kamakhyanagar NH-149 and 53, built at a cost of ₹795 crore, and underpasses at Balikuda, Sikharpur, and Badachana on NH-16, costing ₹46 crore.
Key projects for which the foundation will be laid include:
Four-laning of Banarpal-Godibandha: ₹973 crore
Widening of Daringbadi ghat (NH-59): ₹718 crore
Widening of NH-10 (Mangalpur to Kayangola with Aradi spur): ₹374 crore
Construction of a bridge over the Mahanadi at Pujaripalli ghat: ₹273.94 crore
These initiatives are expected to significantly improve connectivity across rural and urban areas, reduce travel time, and boost investment through better logistics. Odisha’s Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan emphasized that the Centre is fully supporting the state’s infrastructure development under the ‘double-engine government’ model.
