Two Films By Avinash Nanda Strike Gold At Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival

Odisha’s renowned ad filmmaker Avinash Nanda has made Odisha proud by winning awards for his two films ‘Silver Gandhi’ and ‘The History of Tea’ at the “11th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2021” held in New Delhi. Both the films have been awarded ‘Honorable Jury Award’. While ‘Silver Gandhi’ won the ‘Best Short Film’, ‘The History of Tea’ won the ‘Best Documentary Film’.

Dedicated to the mission of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, the film ‘Silver Gandhi’ has also won more than 25 prestigious National & International awards worldwide. Based on the story of a person who is spreading the message of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in India, it unwinds through the real-life hero Mohan Mahapatra.

Starring Bollywood actors like Hiten Tejwani, Ananya Sengupta, Amit J. Sharma, the film’s cast also includes other regional actors like Tushar Acharya, Sukant Rath, Abhishek Giri, Rakhee Dash, Raju Sahoo, Rahul Rai & Sweta Acharya.

Written by renowned Bollywood writer Sanjay Masoomm & story by Abhimanyu Mishra, the film is going to release soon on ‘BIIGGBANG’ OTT platform. It has been produced by Santosh Shetty, Sangeeta Hans & Rajinder Singh Bhatia.

Sharing his thoughts, Nanda said to My City Links, “His story would encourage and inspire hundreds of Indians to choose a life of cleanliness and hygiene. Today Silver Gandhi is an icon of courage and hope against the widespread problem of open defecation and unhygienic conditions.”

Nanda hopes that this film should reach each and every corner of our country and every person should be aware of personal hygiene and keeping their surroundings clean. “It is the best way to show how each one of us can make a difference to our society in our own small ways. I am looking forward to making many such inspirational movies in future and motivate our young minds to give it a thought and be a part of the mission of creating a developed India.” he added.

Concept by Dilip Ray and scripted by Abhimanyu Mishra, “The History of Tea” has also won 12 prestigious National & International awards worldwide. Produced by Pooja Ray, The cast of the film includes international actors like Gavrushenko Daria, Alex and Scott Knox. It is a docudrama that chronicles the journey of Tea into popular Indian culture.

“It reinforces my faith in hard work and good content,” overwhelmed with the response Nanda concluded.
