Tirupati Balaji Temple Inaugurated In Bhubaneswar

The new temple of Lord Venkateswara was inaugurated by Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sri Swaroopanandendra Saraswati, Sarada Peetham, Visakhapatnam, in the capital city on Thursday.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams launched the new temple in Bhubaneshwar in a week-long event from May 21 to 26. The official “Ankurarpanam” or the seed sowing ritual was carried out on Saturday, while the “Mahasamprokshanam” rituals began at the Lord Balaji Mandir on Sunday. A series of agamic rituals were performed on Saturday. Majeti Munaiah, former general manager at Odisha state civil supplies corporation, Bhubaneswar, along with his wife donated a Salagrama Haram to the deity on Sunday.

The sacred jewel weighed around 2.28kg wrapped in around 670 grams of silver. All the 54 Saligramas (holy stones believed to be a non-anthropomorphic representation of Lord Vishnu) are the original and precious ones that were brought from the banks of Kali Gandaki river at Muktinath in Nepal which is considered to be most auspicious.

The inauguration of the temple, constructed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, was attended by Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan.

Terming it a noble thought, Harichandan said thousands of people from Odisha visit Lord Balaji temple in Tirupati every year. “After the setting up of the temple in Bhubaneswar, devotees will have the opportunity to offer their prayers here also,” said Harichandan.

TTD temples are being built across the country.  Temples have been built in Visakhapatnam, Kanyakumari and another is in Jammu & Kashmir, said TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy. Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi was among the several dignitaries who inaugurated the grand event.
