Surgeons Conduct Tricky Surgery On COVID Patient

Facing a tricky situation when a 14-year-old COVID 19 positive girl was detected with an inflamed appendix, surgeons at the SUM Covid Hospital have successfully operated the case.

Sanjukta Khillar of Patrapada area of the city had first come to the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital recently for treatment as she was suffering from sickle cell anaemia.

But she was detected as COVID 19 positive during examination and promptly admitted into the SUM Covid Hospital for treatment.

Dr. Lalit Nayak, Pediatric Surgeon and Dr. Jagadish Prasad Sahu of Neonatal surgery department at IMS and SUM Hospital conducted the operation. She was later attended to by Dr. Priyadarshini Behera of Pulmonary Medicine department.

Sanjukta was discharged from the hospital after two weeks. Her family has thanked the doctors who treated her.
