Siddharth Routray Wins Ultraman Florida Race
Odia triathlete Siddharth Routray has added another feather to his cap by completing the three-day triathlon at Ultraman Florida Race.He completed the 515 km multisport in 31 hours 55 minutes on February 13. This triathlon included 10 kms of open-water swimming, 421 km cross-country cycling and an 84 km ultra-marathon run. With this he became the first Ultraman of Odisha. Siddharth is the son of former sports minister and MLA Sura Routray.
On day one of the triathlons, he did 6.2 miles of swimming in 4 hour 59 minutes and 90 miles of cycling in 5 hour 38 minutes. Next day he cycled 170 miles in 10 hour 42 minutes. On the final day he did it within 10 hours 35 minutes waiting for a run of 52.4 kms from 84 kms. At the end of three days, Sidharth covered a total distance of 512 KM in 31 hours 55 minutes.
Earlier in 2016, the 47 year old sportsperson was honored with the Ironman title. After that he got this title five times. In 2019 he registered his name for the Ultraman title. But due to the pandemic this dream couldn’t be fulfilled. This time he got the chance to make India and Odisha proud. On 18 January, Siddharth got the confirmation call from Florida. Within three weeks he prepared himself for the competition and finally made it possible.
He thanked his two coaches, Rick Van Tuly and Reba. He extended his thanks to his family members as well, especially his father, MLA Sura Routray.
