‘Rakhi’- A Short Film Dedicated To Brothers And Sisters

‘Raksha Bandhan’ is a unique festival dedicated to the bond between a brother and sister. And dedicated to this bond and the occasion is a short film titled ‘Rakhi’ which was released on a Youtube Channel called ‘Lagna Movies’. Directed and Screenplay by Smruti R, the film has popular music video director Raja D playing the lead role. Along with Raja, well-known music video actress Cookies Swain is playing his sister and Disco Reddy is seen playing a negative role.

Conceptualized by Lagna Mishra this short film of 16min and 23sec is getting huge appreciation from the viewers within only one day of its release.

Happy over audience response for his first-ever short film, Smruti who has directed some music videos like Rishta, Alga Prakar Love Story, Khwayishen and Mari Jibi Dhana Tori Bina earlier, said to  MCL, “After visualizing the script I approached Raja Bhai to play the character of the brother because I knew that he has a very keen interest towards acting. He has done it without charging a single penny and with his suggestion, we cast Cookies opposite him.”

According to Raja, this is the first time he has played a full-fledged character, he said, “I have cleared it with Smruti from the very beginning that I want to be a director’s actor. I followed Smruti’s instructions thoroughly so that I can control the director in me and concentrate on acting.” 

“Cookies has worked with me earlier and along with her, her mother also loves me a lot. So we have developed a family bond between us, she is like my younger sister and we both had great chemistry together,” he added.

Cookies, who has acted in several music videos including ‘Mohabbat’ and ‘Ae mana Mo Mana’ and is currently busy in shooting her upcoming mega serial Nananda Putuli, said, “Being the only child of my parents, I don’t have any brother in real life. But I am very glad after seeing the output of the short film. I feel like I have got a brother now. I have even messaged him as my best Bhai after seeing this and he also replied calling me as the best sister.”
