Raja Release 2024 Ft. Ollywood

Good news for Odia film lovers. Unlike the previous years after Covid19 pandemic, this year is probably going to be the first year after the pandemic having a real Odia entertainment vibe during Raja festival. Raja and Dussehra are the two main festivals, where the Odia people celebrate with Odia cinema. And the Ollywood box office has seen the highest income during these festivals previously. Along with a few other films on pipeline the festival of Raja will witness four big releases this time with top stars of the O-town. The four films are Pabar, Kuhudi, Tike Tike Achinha Tu and Chandrabanshi. Here are some interesting insights about these four films. Have a look.

The ‘Power’ of ‘Pabar’

With upcoming film 'Pabar', going to be released on June 12, Ollywood superstar Babushan Mohanty is ready to explode again after the success of his recent hits like ‘Daman’ and 'Malyagiri'.   The successful duo of Babushan along with the popular director Ashok Pati is coming back together after years with this film. Also after 8 years of the film ‘Love Station’, Babushan has been paired with Elina Samantaray in the film. The star cast also includes actors like Krishna Kar, Choudhury Jayprakash Das, Rabi Mishra, Bapi, Bhakti, and many more.

Keeping the festival of Raja in mind, the makers hope that the film will double the fun of the people. Along with his wife Tripti Satpathy, Babushan himself has produced the film under the banner ‘Babushan Films’ & ‘Amara Studios’.

While the story, screenplay and dialogues of the film has been written by Amit Kumar Das and Pranab Prasanna Rath, young and talented music composer Gaurav Anand has composed the songs of the film.

Based on a true incident the story of the film talks about the 'power' of common people and election awareness. In this movie, we can see how a simple village boy has power and how he can change everyone's power if he wants. It also shows how education transforms and defines a person. With a package of comedy emotion romance, it shows towards vote awareness.

The hit dance number ‘Lal Taha Taha’ from the Babushan- Archita starrer, Ashok Pati directorial  film ‘Loafer’ has been remade and featured in the film. The song has been released online on Youtube and is getting rave reviews along with the soulful song ‘Nali Sadhi’ from ‘Pabar’. Seeing the audience reaction online, the makers are hopeful for the film’s success.

‘Kuhudi’ Talks about Parental Alienation

Inspired by true events, upcoming Odia film ‘Kuhudi’ starring superstar Anubhav Mohanty in lead role is all set to hit the theatres during Raja on June 14. Under the banner ‘Camera Queen Productions’, produced by  Himadri Tanaya Das, the film has been directed by Ajay Padhi, who has recently worked with Anubhav for the film ‘Bigul’. Along with Anubhav the film also has talented actors like Supriya, Prakruti Mishra, Dipanwit Dasmohapatra, Kuna Tripathy, Sakti Baral, Susil Mishra and Sukumar Tudu. While the songs of the film have been composed by Somesh Satpathy, the screenplay and dialogues of the film have been written by Manas Padhiari, Amit Kumar das and Anil Barik.

The film talks about Parental alienation, revolving around a character named Sagar Mishra played by Dipanwit. Anubhav is playing the advocate of accused Sagar, but the accusation has not been declared by the makers yet. Supriya has been seen playing an advocate in the promos of the film and Prakruti has been seen playing the wife of Dipanwit. Keeping the commercial hero tag aside, Anubhav seems to play a serious drama in this film. The fans of Anubhav along with Odia cinema lovers are eagerly waiting to witness the film on screen during Raja.

Tike Tike Achinha Tu

One of Ollywood’s favourite directors Tapas Sargharia is back again with his hit pair Swaraj Barik and Bhoomika Dash with the upcoming film ‘Tike Tike Achinha Tu’. His previous films with the same pair are ‘Tu Mo Love Story’ and ‘Tu Mo Love Story 2’, which were music hits of their time. “Tike Tike Achinha Tu’ was the title of one of the songs in the first film. Along with Swaraj and Bhoomika, who were child actors before and now are main leads in films, another child actor turned young actor Subham Nayak is debuting with this film. Story, screenplay and dialogues by Bharadwaj Panda, produced by Navin Bhandari and Deepak Mishra, the music of the film has been composed by musical scientist of ollywood Prem Anand.

Recently a funny reel promoting the film, has been shared online by the makers, where Swaraj asks Tapas about the link between ‘Tu Mo Love Story’ and this upcoming film ‘Tike Tike Achinha Tu’. To this Tapas replied that in a funny way that we can call it ‘Tu Mo Love Story 2.5’. While the Odia audience have accepted and loved the chemistry between Swaraj and Bhoomika before, Subham’s entry is still a surprise for them. The makers are hopeful for the success of this romantic experiment on screen during Raja on June 7.

Chandrabanshi

In the race of making content-oriented films, somehow the drama has vanished from mainstream these days. In order to make a comeback of the family drama in Ollywood, the makers of upcoming Odia film ‘Chandrabanshi’ have made an effort.

Having a multistarrer cast along with Ollywood’s mega star Siddhant Mohapatra, the film also has prominent actors from the O-town like Sritam das, Akash Dasnayak, Usasi Mishra, Samaresh Routray, Raj Rajesh, Poonam Mishra, Jasmine rath, Lipsa Mishra, Pratibha Panda, , Sakti Baral and Ashwini Tripathy. Popular director Tapas Sargharia will be seen playing a hardcore negative character in the film.

The fierce look of the director turned actor in the promos of the film is getting rave reviews from the audience. The popular faces from the Odia Jatra industry  Daitari Panda and Piyush Tripathy will be seen playing powerful characters in the film.

Under the banner Anasmish productions, this is going to be the 4th cinema produced by young and emerging O-town producer Pritam Kumar Sahu, directed by newcomer director duo Yash Varman Panda and Sunil Sahoo.

Music by trendy music composer Asad Nizam, the film is all set to hit the theatre on June 14.

The story of the film is based on a renowned family ‘Chandrabansh’ on the theme of Mahabharat conflicts with a modern touch.

Like the Mahabharat, this film also has a Kaourav- Pandav conflict and a Shakuni Mama too. Excited for the festive release the makers of the film are hopeful they can bring back the glory of Odia entertainment with the film ‘Chandrabanshi’.

Now let’s see which film gets the maximum number of shows in the multiplexes and single screens as that is the main hurdle for makers in odisha in current times.

We at My City Links wish all the makers, cast and crew, of these four upcoming Odia films scheduled for Raja. We hope the Ollywood industry will be back on track very soon with the young and talented minds working together for the betterment of Odia entertainment scene.
