Prachi Tara Builds Bridges Between Generations Via Digital Storytelling

Storyteller Prachi Tara has come up with a new series called ‘Daadi Time’ on YouTube. Besides “building bridges” between children and their grandparents, Prachi believes that the new series will bring freshness in her regular storytelling sessions.

“People love my selection of stories on YouTube and so I thought of the idea to introduce ‘Daadi Time’ to my audience. My stories will be a bridge between two generations. Children are going to miss their grandparents if they really connect to my stories. Second, I will deliver witty and funny stories in the series to give a different taste to the content,” Prachi said.

She further shared that the episodes were shot in one go. “Right now, we have planned 10 episodes. We may extend the series according to the response we get from the audience.

“I was also very careful about the Hindi words and their pronunciation so as to avoid silly mistakes. Fortunately, my experience of living outside Odisha for years and training in communication helped me a lot,” she added.

With things going totally digital during the lockdown, Prachi experimented with ‘Animoji’, a feature in iOS, to bring the grandma look in her videos. “The idea was to go for something trendy and innovative rather than having a real makeover. In fact, my kids became my team in the entire process from conceptualization to execution.”

The process of digital storytelling was also a learning experience for Prachi. “I learnt quite a bit about a few technical things like shooting on mobile and video editing at home which enhanced my fluency in technology. Being well aware of the digital platform during the pandemic, now I feel much more independent to create content whenever I develop an idea,” she concluded.
