Odia Woman Bags Runner Up In  India Dubai Queen

Odisha has become the land of achievers who etch their names in various fields worldwide. Madhusmita Nayak, who had won the prestigious Inspiring Women’s Business Leader Award 2021, has once again brought laurels to the state and the country by becoming the second runners-up, in the second season of India Dubai Queen, Fashion Fiesta Pageant organised by Indian Expats in Dubai, a UAE expat group. My City Links caught up with her to know more about her journey. 

Held on 21st August 2022 at Movenpick JBR Dubai, the chief guest was Bollywood celebrity, Rohit Bose Roy. There were four rounds of walking with ladies and kids displaying different collections of jewellery and clothing from leading designers and jewellery partners. Out of the 19 contestants, 11 were shortlisted for the final round.

“When the organiser of the pageant, Anul Mundra, the founder of India Expat Dubai, approached me, I was completely surprised because I had never ventured into this field before. Modelling and walking the ramp is completely out of my comfort zone but then I took it as a personal; growth and gave them a nod. Every girl has an inherent dream to walk the ramp and look beautiful,” shared Madhusmita on her participation in the pageant.

The fashion event featured several rounds exhibiting unique Indian, western, and Indo-western designer wear. In addition, jewellery exhibitors also showcased their designs. A Q&A session was also held to decide the winner. The title for the India Dubai Queen was won by Kevaljit Sandhu. The first runner up title was won by Neha silva and 2nd runner up by Madhusmita Nayak respectively.

“My objective behind being a part of this pageant was to learn and have fun. And I must say the experience was totally worth it. It pushed my threshold and made me believe that if you try, you can do the best,” she shared.
