Odia Silent Short- Film ‘Teaser’ Takes A New Look At Bullying
After the Odia documentary ‘The Mountain Hockey’, which is streaming now on Disney + Hotstar, another Odia project has been released on a National platform. ‘Teaser’, a silent short-film by Itishree Panigrahi is streaming on MX Player from 11 June.

The plot of the story starts with the character Sakshi, a college going girl. When she enters the college premises for the first time with eyes full of dreams, she faces teasing. Some of her male classmates start teasing her for her long hair. Soon the problem increases and neither anybody understands her situation nor stands up for her. So finally she decides to do something about it and take a big step.
Casting newcomer actors like Pravej Kumar, K.Subhadarshini Biswal, Deb Mohapatra, Snehasis Kar and Prasid Biswal, the film was shot at a private engineering college at Dhenkanal before the lockdown last year. It has been nominated and awarded at various film festivals.
Venturing into direction, a professional cinematographer, Itishree has completed her diploma in cinematography from BPFTI,Odisha. Her other directorial short-films are ‘Mukha – Invisible Truth’, ‘Misstep’ and ‘Maa’. Adding about the film she told MCL, “As we have taken debutant actors mostly, we had several workshops for them to make them understand their character. I have always wished to make a film on teasing. Audience may have watched various films on this subject before, but this is different as it has zero violence. And also to reduce violence we have made this a silent film very creatively, so that we can omit dialogues promoting violence.”
“We have been trying this form for the last few months to release it on a national OTT and with God’s grace finally it has happened. We are very glad and the response of the audience till date is enlightening.” She signed off.
