Odia Movie ‘Kokoli’ Wins 3 Awards At Mexico Film Festival

An Odia movie on climate change, ‘Kokoli, Fish Out Of Water’, directed by acclaimed documentary and short filmmaker Snehasish Das, has bagged three awards at the prestigious Bacalar Mexico International Film Festival.

‘Kokoli’, a telling love story woven around the backdrop of the ravages of climate change in coastal Odisha, received the awards for the best film, best director (Shehasish) and best actress (Gargi Mohanty).

Gargi, the ‘Krantidhara’ actress, donned a rustic look for the lead role of ‘Kokoli’ and won the award for her compelling portrayal. Besides Gargi, Snehasish’s flawless direction and dexterous telling of the effect of climate change on the fisherman community in coastal Odisha makes ‘Kokoli, Fish Out Of Water’ a must-watch for cine lovers.

Snehasish’s production house ‘The Naked Eye Films’ is credited with producing some critically acclaimed short films such as ‘Hausla Na Ruthe’ and ‘Ghar Jaana Hai’.
