Odia Movie ‘Bhoka’ Wins At Film Festival In London
Odia movie ‘Bhoka’ based on the plights of migrant communities during the lockdown due to the pandemic, has bagged an award at the ‘23rd Rainbow Film Festival’ at London. Concluded on June 5, 2022 the film festival began on May 29 across East London.
While the film has been directed by Rajeeb Mohanty, the story, screenplay and dialogues are by Ranjan Das. Actors Ankit Kumar and Kavya Kiran have played the lead roles. The cast of the film also includes veteran actors like Kuna Tripathy, Pushpa Panda, Prativa Panda, Chiranjeevi, Deepa, Pritam, and others.
Produced by Sabyasachi Mohapatra under the banner ‘Jyoti Productions’, the movie is based on the struggles of members of one Odia family after their return from Surat to Odisha. What problems they faced on their way and the plights of the wife of a Surat returnee was showcased in reel life. Music for the film has been given by Bikash Das.
The lockdowns and shutdowns left many without a livelihood and several others lost lives to the virus. The film has beautifully represented the harsh realities of the pandemic which many people can relate with.
