My Dhenkanal Cafe, An Amalgamation Of Culture, Heritage And Community

Odisha is known as “India’s best kept secret” and yes we do have a lot of things to share with the world and many stories to tell. What is a better way of doing it than in a cafe? Recently, Dhenkanal witnessed the opening of a first-of-its-kind cafe “My Dhenkanal Cafe”, an amalgamation of culture, heritage and the local community. It was inaugurated by veteran Ollywood actor and OFDC Chairman, Kuna Tripathy in the presence of Dhenkanal royal family’s heir, Amarjyoti Singhdeo and Editor of My City Links, Satyabrat Sanu Ratho.

The evening commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Tripathy and then it became mesmerising with an amazing performance by Alex, who filled the ambiance with excitement. The evening ended on a high with the guests all thrilled and excited.

This is an open-concept cafe that provides you with an open library which is accessible to all, a meeting space, free wifi to hold online meetings and conferences seamlessly and a gaming room. It is a great space to have a movie night with friends and family over delicious great food, amazing brews and refreshments.

You will also find handmade upcycled items and some amazing art and craft up for sale here. This place is like a total knowledge hub that will give you endless information about Dhenkanal. The makers are planning to take this concept forward to other places of the state very soon.

Talking about the cafe, National Coordinator ‘Youth for Sustainability’ and co-founder of the cafe, Punyasloka Panda said to My City Links, “Dhenkanal is a culturally rich place. So it needed something like this. Although we have assumed mostly youth will come here, we are more than happy getting very good responses across different age groups.”

“It’s an initiative we have been thinking of for a really long time. This is to showcase the city’s culture, heritage, important people, its history and what it has gone through. So it’s more than a cafe,” he signed off.
