Metro Train Service from Bhubaneswar to Trisulia to Extend to Cuttack

The Odisha Government has announced plans to expand the proposed Bhubaneswar-Trisulia metro rail service to Cuttack. The Urban Development Minister, Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, revealed that a new Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared soon. A high-level technical committee is currently reviewing the feasibility of the previous DPR.

Initially, the metro rail project was planned to connect Bhubaneswar Airport to Trisulia Square, covering 26 km with 20 stations. However, the government now believes that extending the service to Cuttack will better serve commuters, as halting at Trisulia alone may not be practical.

The minister stated that expert committees have already conducted surveys and will soon finalize the most efficient route. The new DPR will not only focus on the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack corridor but also consider potential expansions to enhance regional connectivity.

Additionally, Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan previously announced that the Jayadev Vihar-Nandankanan Road in Bhubaneswar will feature an elevated corridor. The design will include a metro train track at the top level, with a flyover underneath for vehicular traffic, ensuring seamless transportation flow.
