Mask Mobile Vans To Create Awareness In Smart City
With Odisha making masks mandatory in the fight against COVID 19, Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Producers Groups (PGs) in different districts of Odisha have been manufacturing masks to meet its growing demand.
ORMAS, under the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, has also been providing the necessary marketing support to these groups for manufacturing face masks. While providing a helping hand to the SHGs & PGs, ORMAS had also opened a kiosk near SIRD & PR campus, Unit-8 Bhubaneswar for selling masks. Each mask costs Rs.15 and SHGs members are selling the products maintaining all prescribed social guidelines of COVID-19.
The mask counter opens between 8 AM and 12 PM and again from 4 PM to 8 PM in the second half.
Along with this, a mask mobile van has started touring the entire smart city from Monday to create awareness about the pandemic and the benefits of wearing the mask.
Meanwhile, the districts involved in manufacturing cotton masks include Balasore, Bhadrak, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Angul, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Puri, Sambalpur, Subarnapur, Khorda and Nabrangpur.
More than 60 SHGs and PGs from these districts are involved in the process of mask making. Since lockdown, these groups have prepared and sold more than 12 lakh face masks, with a business value of around Rs.1.80 lakh.
