Happy Birthday Mr Bean: Life Lessons With Dollops Of Laughter
‘Mr Bean’, the comic character immortalised by actor Rowan Atkinson, turns 30 today. Mr Bean stumbled his way onto British TV screens for the first time in 1990 capturing the hearts of the nation and eventually the world.
Atkinson gave life to Mr Bean’s character — a grown-up man who doesn’t speak, drives a lime green car, has a teddy as his best friend and finds himself in the most hilarious troubles. The show not only filled our childhood with laughter and joy but taught us some great life lessons of self-love in the simplest way possible.
Here are some of the subtle life lessons that the series has taught us over the years.
Friendship
Mr Bean has a dark brown teddy as his best friend. Throughout the series, they both face troubles and difficulties together. They dine together, go for long drives, shopping, and even brush together. This shows that friendship can happen to someone in the most strange and beautiful way possible.
Even if the teddy is a lifeless toy, it is the only companion to Mr Bean who treats it no less than a human being.
Roads to self-learn
Facing myriad situations all alone, Mr Bean has taught us to learn to level up always. The art of self-improvisation and creativity always is the way you deal with a situation and win over it.
Keeping humility foremost
In Mr Bean’s animated series, we get to meet his grumpy landlady and her pet cat. They resemble some people in real life for whom we have nothing but intolerance because they sometimes bring out the worst in each of us. Yet, Mr Bean has taught us never to leave hold on humility and apologize when you are wrong.
Live life to the fullest
The same coat, the same old car and the same four walls of Mr Bean’s house tell us that some things are beautiful the way they are. Not everything needs to be broken and remodelled to become beautiful. You are that one genuine person to make your life beautiful and worth living. Not everyone will walk your way, so happiness lies where you decide to see it.
