Family Rendezvous With Web Series ‘Welcome To The Family’

It’s the age of web series, a new form of entertainment that is getting extremely popular with the internet hooked audiences the world over. TechnoArt Productionz has come up with a web series named ‘Welcome to the Family’ targeting not just the youth, but families as well, as the name suggests. The trailer is out on their official Youtube Channel and social media is abuzz with posts and comments about the brand new show.

Starring Odia telly actress Devika Arundhati, new comer Debasish Sahoo and actor Susil Mishra in lead roles, the series has been directed by Anupam Patnaik (Son of Veteran film maker Amiya Patnaik).

As per the production team, it is a simple family drama about a father and his 2 kids. In just 4 episodes, the makers have tried to tackle a few common issues that  modern families deal with. Though the first 2 episodes will take you to a warmer place, the show gradually takes an unexpected turn.

About the USP of the story Anupam says, “It’s our sincere attempt at showing matured family issues. This web series caters to the urban youth who have a different relationship with parents than the previous generation. It deals with mature subjects in a light manner.”

He further said, “After a lot of brainstorming sessions, Roshan Bisoi completed the script, and then we sat through the entire pre production making the shoot an easier process. We shot it over a span of 3 days continuously with DOP Deepak Kumar, whose other film Swahaa was recently selected in Cannes Corner, and with ample support from all the artists. With Anurag Patnaik on music and the experienced Deven Mishra with editing, we hope to make a difference in the web space with our web series.”

Actress Devika Arundhati, who has worked as the main lead in serials like ‘Mo Je Je Maa’, ‘Neija Re Megha Mate’ and ‘Jwain No. 1’ said, “I wanted to work in a web series but I had no plans of doing it as such. It just came my way and I accepted the offer. I was told from the beginning that I have to perform on camera without makeup. I agreed as the audience has been watching me in make up for the last 6 years. And this is completely a new platform for me, where I can show my acting skills.  We have tried to keep everything as natural as possible, starting from getup, looks and acting. I am playing a daughter and a sister in this series, who strives to keep the family together. She is also bubbly sometimes.”

Susil Mishra, who has played supporting roles in many films and TV shows said, “I have worked as a production designer for the ‘Amiya Patnaik Productions’ (Parent company of TechnoArt Productionz) for about 40 years . So this production hose  is like a family to me. The audience is different here and an artist should be comfortable acting in any platform.  I have tried my best, let’s hope for the best.”
