Designer Jyoshna Brings The Traditional And The Modern Together For The Environment

Designer Jyoshna Das closed the evening at the 3rd edition of the Bhubaneswar Runway Week that was held in Mayfair Convention with her beautiful collection. Jyoshna, is one of the most well-known faces of the fashion world here in Bhubaneswar. She and her label Bivabari is known to champion the cause for handlooms and dying local traditions. She has advocated for handlooms, pattachitra and hand embroidery through her work earlier.

This time her collection “Carbon Neutral” focused on reducing the carbon footprint through sustainable fashion. Talking about her commitment to raise awareness about the global climate crisis, the designer said “The garment industry is the third-largest polluter of the environment. We must all do our bit to protect the Earth, through our work. In Odisha and all over the world we have techniques and technologies in the garment industry to tackle this problem. Going back to our roots of handlooms and sustainable dying and weaving is my way of making a change.”

Her line consisted of jumpsuits, casual and party dresses, midis and some gorgeous drapes. Actress Anu Choudhry walked the ramp as the showstopper for label Bivabari. She came out in a beautiful maxi skirt and a blouse with traditional pattachitra paintings. The dress was exquisite. Designer Jyoshna joined the showstopper on the stage to cheers from the crowd.

Her collection had a delicate balance between the traditional and the modern. The designs were for the girl who loves to have fun and while making traditional motifs look cool. The bright colors, detailed handiwork and exquisite sheer made the line stunning.

Talking to My City Links about her collaboration with the designer, Anu Choudhry said “Working with Jyoshna has always been fun. This time her theme of carbon neutral is something I identify with and I love the outfit I will be wearing. Today’s youth is quite mature and understands that we need to take care of our environment. Jyoshna has done an amazing thing with this line.”
