Cuttack Club’s Transgender Fashion Show Steals the Spotlight at 158th Anniversary Celebration

The 158th anniversary of the iconic Cuttack Club, one of the oldest clubs in India, was celebrated with much pomp and show on the 1st and 2nd of April this year. The two-day celebration was marked with several events that left the attendees mesmerized.

The celebration began on the 1st of April with the ‘Voice of Barabati’ singing competition, which saw several talented singers perform to their heart’s content. The competition was judged by renowned singers, who added value to the event with their valuable feedback. Following the competition, the club felicitated its members and held an award ceremony to recognize the outstanding achievements of its members.

The second day of the celebration was marked with a fashion show, which was organized by the Cuttack Club in association with Oditribe, a company that aims to promote the use of natural, authentic and ethically sourced indigenous produce. The fashion show was unique in that it featured the transgender community of Odisha, along with the tribal community. The ‘Voice of Fashion’ show was aimed at endorsing the astounding and intricate handicrafts of Odisha, and it did so in style.

The event was graced by the presence of Ollywood sensation Sohini Mishra and singer Shashank Shekhar, who added glamour to the occasion. The highlight of the event, however, was the fashion show featuring the transgender community and the tribal community, which left the audience spellbound with their unique and mesmerizing performances.

The Cuttack Club’s efforts to bring the transgender community and the tribal community to the forefront of the fashion industry are commendable, and it is heartening to see such initiatives being taken by heritage institutions like the Cuttack Club. The club’s commitment to promoting art, culture, and tradition was evident in the celebration, which was a resounding success.

The President of the Club, Prof Jayant Panda, the Honorary Secretary Sri Josobant Das, and all the members of the management committee conducted the program with great aplomb, unravelling the social face of this heritage institution. The complementary dinner offered to all the members and their spouses was a welcome gesture, making the celebration even more special.

The 158th anniversary celebration of the Cuttack Club was a resounding success, and it was a testament to the club’s commitment to promoting art, culture, and tradition.
