Complete Lockdown Across Odisha From May 5-19

As Odisha recorded 8015 new COVID positive cases and 14 deaths on Sunday, the Odisha government declared a 14 day complete lockdown across the State. The Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra said, “In view of the present COVID 19 situation in Odisha we can break the chain only if all will cooperate and follow the guidelines. It’s a war-like situation & we are forced to take such a decision to contain the spread of the virus.

The lockdown will commence from Wednesday morning (May 5) and will continue till May 19. During the lockdown one can walk 500 meters between 6 am and 12 pm to buy vegetables. There will be no restrictions on healthcare and emergency services. Salons, barbershop, spa, parlours, cinema halls, malls, gyms, sports complexes, swimming pools etc are prohibited.

Religious places will be closed for public and religious congregations are prohibited during the lockdown period. Jatra/ opera/ open air theatres are not allowed to operate. Buses for public transport, intra-State movement of individuals by road, except for medical reasons are prohibited.

During the lockdown Sarpanchs need to ensure those coming from outside must stay in home isolation or Covid centres. Sarpanchs also need to create awareness among people. As Pipili bypoll is on the cards, election related activities & movements have been exempted from the lockdown & the shutdown said the Chief Secretary 

The will be a complete shutdown on Saturdays & Sundays during the 14-day lockdown. Vaccination & testing will continue during this period and those who have registered can visit the nearest vaccination centre.
