CM Naveen Patnaik Makes ‘Delivery Boy’ Tax Free

Good news for Odia cinema lovers as the Odisha Government has waived the entertainment tax on the upcoming Odia film Delivery Boy. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved a proposal in this regard on this Monday. The film is going to be released on 7th April. Directed by Aswini Tripathy and produced by Jytharanjan Mohanty, the film has Buddhaditya Mohanty, Sailendra Samanatray, Suryamayee Mohapatra and Priyambada Swain in lead roles.

Earlier, the State Government has lifted entertainment tax on the movie ‘Zwigato’. The significance of delivery boys in the urban landscape cannot be overlooked. These individuals, often hailing from economically deprived backgrounds, encounter a myriad of arduous work and personal struggles in their daily lives.

Adding to this at a press conference on Tuesday popular actor of the O-town Buddhaditya said to My City Links, “I am glad that our government has appreciated the strong message we have tried to give through this film, that’s the reason they have made it tax free. Now the ticket cost for the film will be lowered. So it’s my humble request to all the cinema hall owners to give space to such films. ‘Delivery Boy’ is the answer to the youth who always question why we are not making films out of the box. I am quite hopeful for this film; I feel our audience will love it.”

Drawing inspiration from the lives of delivery boys, the film paints a vivid picture of their struggles. Shot in the Odia language, it skillfully narrates the tale of a delivery boy who, following a road accident, wages a battle for justice with the support of his peers and ultimately emerges victorious. Through its powerful depiction, the film endeavors to raise awareness about the critical issue of road safety, and is poised to resonate with viewers from all walks of life.

Being thankful to the CM, Sailendra said, “We are grateful to our CM for such a nice gesture towards our film. We wish the same response from our audience too, as we have made with a core objective of entertaining and also giving a message through the film.”

“Few people have complained that the story of the film may be similar to Kapil sxharma starrer Zwigato. But after this announcement I think now everybody knows that this is an original story. In fact I would like to mention here the story has been inspired from the real story of a guy from Khordha. I wish our effort reaches our audience,” added the music video sensation of Odisha.

In a bid to promote the burgeoning film industry, the State Government has rolled out a slew of favorable policies aimed at facilitating commercial film-making within the region. Emphasizing the importance of this sector, the Chief Minister expressed optimism that such measures will not only spur tourism in the State but also create gainful employment opportunities for young and talented women.
