Chrome Rolls Out New Features To Ease Work From Home Burden

Being the world’s most popular Internet browser, Google Chrome is set to raise its bar for better performance. Recently, Google introduced new features in Chrome to facilitate and enhance the fast loading of tabs and better organisation and management to ensure an easier and simplified way to work from home.

Through the under-the-hood performance improvements, Google has made tabs 10 per cent faster in Chrome that lets the users collapse and expand tab groups, making it easier to see the ones they need to access.

Earlier, Google has introduced the “Switch Tab” function under which a user, while multitasking with multiple tabs, can switch to an existing tab by typing the page title into the address bar. This feature has proved to be quite convenient among users.

In addition to that, URL sharing has also been introduced enabling the Android users to quickly share links with other devices through Chrome as well as other apps. It also enables the user to print the page or generate a QR code that needs to be scanned or downloaded.

Rolling out to Chrome on the desktop, there is a new QR code feature which can be accessed from a new QR icon in the Chrome address bar. This enhances web browsing and finding links precisely. This also allows you to print the page or generate a QR code to scan or download.

“It is interesting how the tab groups can be customised such that they can be labelled with names and colours and can be easily collapsed, expanded or dragged-and-dropped,” said Aditya Dalmia, a tech-savvy from KIIT.

A new feature called Chrome Beta is also introduced which will facilitate hovering over a tab and instantly see a thumbnail preview of that page. This proves to be quite useful when you have a lot of tabs open which appear to be identical.

Chrome’s PDF functionality has seen an improvement in which PDF forms can be filled out and saved with inputs directly from Chrome. This means that if the file has to be closed in between, then you can open the file again and can resume your work from where you left off.

Apparently, despite the new additions in its features, Chrome will not slow but rather be 10% faster and better in its functionality.

Google has lived up to its expectations and time-and-again provided its users with improved and simplified technology for performance boost and management. These additional features surely come as a saviour for many during this time of the pandemic when most people are working from home.
