Cabinet nod to Bhubaneswar Cuttack metro rail project’s first phase
The Odisha cabinet has given its approval to the Detailed Project Report for phase 1 of the Bhubaneswar Cuttack metro rail project. Along with that 11 more proposals were also approved.
The construction of Bhubaneswar Cuttack metro rail project phase 1 is proposed to start from Bhubaneswar Airport to Trishulia Cuttack. This would cost a total of Rs 5929.38 crore with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation nominated as turn-key consultant for the purpose. Covering a length of 26 km, the metro rail project would cover 20 stations – the Biju Patnaik Airport, Capital Hospital, Sishu Bhawan, Bapuji Nagar, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Ram Mandir Square, Vani Vihar, Acharya Vihar, Jaydev Vihar, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, Damana Square, Patia Square, KIIT Square, Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, Nandankanan Zoological Park, Phulapokhari and Trishulia Square (Cuttack).
The foundation stone of the project is set to be laid by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on January 1, 2024. The project is set to be completed within four years with the entire cost to be bore by the state government.
