On Tuesday morning, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was cynosure of many eyes. Chatting with school students, giving them a word of inspiration and even touching an emotional cord by mentioning how schools remain etched in all our hearts, his charisma was there for all to see.

It was Children's Day and Naveen was the man of the moment when he unveiled the Ama School programme announcing a host of measures to improve school education in the state. From scholarships to mentoring, his announcements had covered all grounds.

With the State Level Children's Day event - never before mounted on such a grand scale - beamed to all schools through TV channels, the Chief Minister made a huge statement and show of intent of his governance.

Addressing a gathering of around 4,500 students from across 24 schools of the city at Capital High School playground, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared that his government would provide special scholarship to each school in each block of the state. Like every year, 40,000 students from lower primary, upper primary and high school levelwill be benefitted by this scheme.

Each top scoring student from each school will be getting Rs. 5000 every year from the state government while each ideal school will get Rs. 1 lakhs on the basis of their performance. He also declared that the student who tops the 10th board exam will get government benefits and will be felicitated by the government along with his or her parents.
The Chief Minister ensured that he was spreading happiness among the children with his speech. Meanwhile, school students also came up with many cultural programmeson the occasion. Star kids Ananya Sritam Nanda and Satyajeet gave a duet performance.
