Follow Guidelines and Have A Safe Diwali!

Bhubaneswar, October 19: The festival of lights is here and everybody is excited to make some new and sweet memories to cherish till the next Diwali.

Come Diwali, everybody gets busy in cleaning the house and decorating it with beautiful lights, diyas, rangoli and making delicious sweets to relish. But Diwali is not complete without crackers. Market is full with various varieties of crackers but the Police Commissionerate has issued safety guidelines for the public to ensure a safe and accident free Diwali.

People are requested to purchase crackers from authorised and licensed shops only and not to use crackers which create sound above 125 decibel.

Due the accident in the cracker market and factory on Wednesday at Rourkela, Balasore and Pipili, many people were injured and some even lost their precious lives. DCP Satyabrata Bhoi hastherefore requested people to follow the advisory guidelines for their safety.

According to the guidelines, people are also advised not to burst crackers near schools, hostels, hospitals, residential areas with senior citizens and in crowded places.

To ensure the safety of children, the Police Commissionerate has advised adults to not allow children to use fireworks alone. People have also been advised to keep a bucket of water or sand and blanket to douse fire in case of emergency and keep first-aid box ready while bursting firecrackers.

MCL makes a humble request to everyone to follow the guidelines and have a safe Diwali.
