The East Coast Railway (ECoR) will run at least 85 special trains from neighbouring States during Rath Yatra this year. Discussions are on with other railway zonal authorities to streamline the services and start those well in advance before the car festival starts, ECoR General Manager Rajiv Vishnoi said.

Currently there are plans to run special trains from Kharagpur, Ranchi, Tatanagar, Vishakhapatnam, Raipur, Bilaspur, Gunupur and few other cities which are yet to be finalised. The final schedule for these trains will be announced before June 15, Vishnoi added.

The Puri station will be WiFi enabled before Rath Yatra for which RailTel expedited readying the infrastructure.

ECoR is gearing up for foolproof security arrangements on the premises of Puri, Bhubaneswar and other important railway stations during Rath Yatra. Installation and monitoring of additional CCTVs and deployment of plain-clothed RPF personnel tops the priority chart. The move has come in the wake of the train arson case at Puri station in November 2015, sources said.
