24 Odia Litterateurs To Be Honoured With Sahitya Akademi Awards

Bhubaneswar, October 29: It was a glorious evening for Odia literature when the names of 24 litterateurs in nine categories who will be honoured with Odisha Sahitya Akademi awards for the year 2013 and 2014, were announced on Saturday evening. The names of 11 writers for 2013 and 13 writers for 2014 have been announced by the Akademi.

For the year 2013, renowned author Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan will receive the award for his novel ‘Dheu’, whereas short story writer Diptiranjan Patnaik will receive the award for ‘Sandigdha Saisaba’. Three poets Bimal Jena, Sucheta Mishra and Kshak Nayak will be honoured with the award for their poetry collections ‘Nibruta Nisada’, ‘Ajanma’ and ‘Asaranti Antakhyari,’ respectively.

Simlarly, in the drama category, Ramesh Dash will receive the award for ‘Baram Nibas Ranakhetrare’. In the children’s literature category, Suryamani Samantray has been selected for his work ‘Ting Kudukudu Tiki Chadhei’ along with Rabindranath Majhi for ‘Nila Thekua.’

‘Odia Katha Kalpanara Diga O Diganta’, an essay by Krushnachandra Pradhan has also been selected for the award. Besides, Bijay Kumar Pradhan’s work ‘Ajata Sundari O Anyanya Galpa’ has been selected for translation, where as Rasabihari Behera’s ‘Ananya Srusti Canada’ selected in the biography category.

Prabhati Mishra’s ‘Bhramaru Siksha’ has been selected in the travelogue category while Debendra Das has been selected for lyrical work ‘Paduan Papuli’.

In the awards selected for the year 2014, Indira Das will be awarded in the novel category for her work ‘Nirbana Abhisara’ and Abhaya Barik for ‘Maharaj’ in short story category.

The poetry category has Bipin Nayak and Basudev Sunani in the running for the award for their works ‘Swarachitra’, and ‘Bodhue Bhala Paiba Mote Jananahi’ respectively. Meanwhile Bijay Kumar Nanda has been selected for his work ‘Nataka Sanghraha’ in drama and Aravind Patnaik for ‘Odishare Lokadharmara Parampara,’ in the essay group. Adding to the list are Subhas Satpathy and Basant Kishore Sahoo who will be awarded in translation and children’s literature categories.

‘Abhijatrika-2’ of Priyabrat Patra and ‘Paschima Odishara Baraputra’ of Ganeshram Nahaka have been selected in the biography and travelogue categories.
