‘A Lie Often Told Becomes The Truth’ Is BJP’s Mantra Now, Says Senior BJD Leader Damodar Rout To MCL

Bhubaneswar, October 13: With the time for 2019 general elections closing in, the tension between two prominent political parties in the state – Biju Janata Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party, has been escalating. Leaders and members from both parties do not fail in seizing an opportunity to hurl accusations and allegations at each other. While the BJP has often taken a dig at the ruling party for allowing the state to languish in backwardness, BJD too has repeatedly countered BJP’s allegations.

This time, however, the party vice-president and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment Dr. Damodar Rout, in a press conference on Thursday, has aggressively has raised several issues against the BJP, while highlighting the BJD led state government’s performance, achievements and contributions in developing Odisha.

Corroborating his claims, the senior leader placed statistical reports before the media comparing the condition of Odisha with five other BJP ruled states,under different contexts. Talking about BJP’s commitment towards resolving various issues including unemployment and curbing corruptionas well as black money transaction, he said that the Prime Minister has failed in delivering his promises. He also raised his concerns about Modi’s expenditures, including his foreign visits to 134 countries and his expensive signature styled attire costing almost Rs.1.15 lakh, most of which is spent from the government and public funds.

On the other hand, he asserted that the Odisha government has been efficientin delivering its promises to its people. The state’srevenue contributionto the Central Railway funds has been 33%, while it contributes almost 25% to the mining sector. In addition to that, the BJD led government has made major strides in developing the state.

Later, talking exclusively to My City Links, the senior leader said the BJP leaders are targeting the state government without any basis. “A lie often told becomes the truth and that is what the BJP is trying to do by making false allegations from time to time at various forums and events. So we have now decided to expose the saffron party and prove all their allegations false by presenting the truth before the public.”
